Kirai Ret and Pecs EVS CLUB

It has been just few times I visited Hungary though living very close to it but for a long run I only came by the EVS projects to the ACF. During the volunteer ship I had a chance to participate in the trainings organized by EVS that were really in a great level. I also enjoyed people that I get to know, with who I became friends. The first period that I came to Hungary was kind of challenging for me as I could speak neither Armenian nor Hungarian but it was also a good experience as I started learning them by working in ACF. The experience I gained in here has influenced both on my character and professional life as now I am more open and more communicative then I was and I am sure about my strengths and creativity that I used when working in ACF. In short my life changed in a positive way as now I know what I want to achieve and this time spent in this country gave me a lot of new ideas and life experience that now are treasure for me.

EVS club in Pecs and Kirai Ret

It has been a while since I am in Hungary in Armenian Cultural Fund as an EVS volunteer and I am so happy that I am given such an opportunity to grow up both as a personality and as a professional. Here I am given a chance to work with people with different backgrounds and age difference. The greatest thing I experienced in ACF is the freedom of thoughts that we express in our work and the way we, as volunteers, are treated. As we are not obliged to work but are offered to implement our ideas, use our creativity which makes us feel active, useful and important for this organization.

Speaking through the symphony of glass

On December 3rd the  "Cultural Center" hall of Veszprém hosted about 50 of guests to enjoy the art of a most interesting and talented artist.
This was one of the few events, when the artist's talent is widely enjoyed by its fans, professionals, critiques and mere viewers; an art that is rich in image, in emotionally intellect and logics.
It has been over 7 years since Nikoghos Hakobyan has presented the world with many of his carvings that are true expressions of human inner world, often displayed in various shades and shapes of glass.

Inspired by many sources, the works of Mr. Hakobyan serve as a source of inspiration themselves. By looking at the harmonious combinations of transparent figures, of light and dark colors, one cannot but sink into romantic existence and happiness of the male and female union. Looking more closely into the glassy features, one keeps asking whether the depth of the created magic is understood…. Then you ask: “Or maybe it actually symbolizes rivers? What if it is not the gender union and not a river, but rather it is someone running from his native landscape?”… and think…

About the Armenian Cultural Fund

The Armenian Cultural Fund was established in 1995 in Hungary and after its 10 years active life in 2005 they were awarded a project by Brussels. The organization’s active cultural and civic initiatives very soon and very broadly brought it a wide recognition among many volunteers, who, gradually, subscribed to its principles and activities by bringing their will and participation.

The Armenian Cultural Fund is a connecting bridge among many Armenian and Hungarian youth. It has already been 3 years since volunteers from Armenia personally attend and have been assisting to implement different types of Armenian cultural activities in Hungary. Those include and are not limited to helping in organizing expos or celebrations of national days, and many other initiatives that deliberately relate the viewers to the roots of the rich Armenian culture. In addition, the volunteers are involved in translating news from the „homeland”, which you are kindly invited to find at www.armenians.hu website, as well they write articles about the latest Armenian events for the „ARMENIA” magazine. With the support and guidance of this organization the volunteers enjoy and discover the Hungarian culture, traditions and, of course, they get the opportunity of learning the language. The life of the volunteer follows an interesting and extraordinarily active routine, which is full of exciting introductions with many youngsters from all around the Europe. For instance this year, the first meeting of the EVS volunteers organized by Mobilitas on the 20th of November in Beregfurdo. The highlight of the meeting was that 28 EVS volunteers who were implementing different projects in Hungary were acknowledged about EVS in details, what could they change or develop in the projects that they were realizing and at least this meeting was a great opportunity to exchange experiences they gained when being here.

On October 19 in Armenian Cultural Center of Budapest took place the opening ceremony of exhibition of hungarian painter Peter Kolonich. As the painter announced to the audience, at first, when Piroshka Djotyan Kraychir, (the author of the idea) made a suggestion to create this kind of collection, he was a little bit confused, becouse for copying Armenian masters of medieval times, belonging to different schools, you need to touch the history. The painter announced, that during his work he spiritually bacame inreached, and understood how religouse Armenian nation was even in those times.
